I conceived a child with my enemy
원수의 아기를 가졌다
Two families that viciously despise each other—the Vermonte family and the Temnes family. Clodel becomes a scapegoat for a forced reconciliation and is made the bride of Kaian, the Duke of Temnes. “So you’re a bride who won’t be welcomed by Temnes. Know your place, and walk in on your own two feet.” Kaian, heir to a house locked in a long feud, treats her with cold disdain. “How admirable. So you came to sell your body to a man from the enemy family because of starving children.” For him, it was an unwanted marriage. For her, it was a marriage she chose. Clodel endured the humiliation poured onto her— because she hadn’t come here without knowing what awaited her. And yet, between the two of them, a husband-and-wife bond begins to take root. Little by little, he becomes obsessed with Clodel, and she finds hope for living through Kaian. But a shallow, unstable relationship is easily shattered and ruined. “It’s horrifying to have filthy blood mixed in. And you can’t exactly cut a child in half.” After learning her husband’s true feelings, Clodel leaves him.
